Reaction to WWI in Dulce Et Decorum Est Dulce Et Decorum Est, is an anti- state of war poem scripted by Wilfred Owen. His reaction to war was that he thought it was horrid, devastating, and unsatisfying at sequences, with the killing of innocent deal. Owens reaction toward the soldiers is poor, he does not glamorize them at all. Owen does not make the war sound good in any way, to me he thinks war and final stage are hideous no matter what way you look at it. For instance in these few lines from the poem, he gives you illusions of how horrifying it is: In all my dreams, before my supporterless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
(15,16) And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, equivalent a devils sick of(p) of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the forth-corrupted lungs,..(19-22) The way he is talking about the death of the soldiers here is horrifying, he describes their death vividly. The way the soldier is drowning in the water and reaching for help and the way he describes the blood coming up from the lungs is disturbing, but it is the reality and truth during World War I, a formidable amount of soldiers died in this war. The way he tells the story, makes you feel like you were there, he really goes into great detail describing the tragedies.
