The Lobbyist
The lobbyist Team A interviewed is Ednah Oliver. Ednah began a Union Chapter for instructors attendants round 20 days ago in Los Angeles. She is 95 years old and has worked as a Teachers Assistant for forty years. She has taken numerous trips to Sacramento lobbying for the Teachers Assistant rights. Ednah has fought for law makers to create benefits packages similar to the one created for Teachers. She has fought for per annum raises, against lay off, equality, and respect. Most importantly, she has traveled to Sacramento to fight for Teacher Assistants to throw off their own union. Ednah Oliver is well known and beloved by her peers. She was the president of the California School Employees Association for 15 years and even though she retired from the job and the union people lighten call her all the time for her help. By looking and talking to Ednah you would never know that she was the driving force in the education of the Teachers Assistant Union. The position of a lobbyist is threatening and tedious, but the outcome is certainly worth the wait.
Without Lobbyists fighting for our rights and existence diligent about not taking no for an answer, they have created a more equal and safer environment.
