The Myth of Redemptive Violence

The fire dream becomes a metaphor for the myth of redemptive force. Sheriff Bell envisions the fire in the horn as the last remaining flames from which any practical spark of decency, honor, and dignity can be retained and passed on to future generations. This spark is battered exponentially by the harry winds of cultural violence.

The redemptive violence myth is the belief that violence is a necessary and appropriate response and even ameliorate for the victim especially when administered by the state on a victims behalf.

Redemption through violence is truly just madness, in all the literature and films that America has been heart-to-heart to that show us the life of a mobster and criminal, we never truly feel they are redeemed because they try to chance upon redemption in brutal and chaotic ways that repudiate us feeling uneasy. The misfits and gangsters lack morality, they dont hap pity and grace for the moment. They will never show mercy. clean people see pity and change as a source of redemption, violence does non redeem oneself. Violence does not solve anything in reality, it only solves things in the city of the gangster and the amoral mind. Our society is suppose to be split into two areas, the pitch blackness area which is where all the evil resides and the white area where all the good resides.
